Il gatto a nove codi (1971, Italy)

A Dario Argento thriller; a murder is followed up by several more, and a journalist and a blind crossword compiler (an "enigmatologist" according to the subtitles) team up to solve the mystery. A lot of Argento's work is so outlandish and obscure that watching the films is hard work; this one is more conventional and fairly believable, and it certainly holds the attention.

One of the people they suspect frequents a gay club, and we go there to ask questions; there are a few transvestite customers.

The film has the English title Cat o' Nine Tails.
