Bibbo is a dress designer and drag queen, and Samir is Bibbo's younger, good-looking boyfriend Samir. Other characters are Bibbo's younger friend Mandy, an Anglicized drag queen who is totally captivated by the extravagant Bibbo. Underneath the campy humorous exterior, the film is an exploration of the Indian gay landscape and understanding of the deep, tender feelings that exist between drag queens in India who form unique, non-patriarchal families.

Menon, the star actor said: "The film is basically about companionship and my character is picked up directly from the Hindi film industry." Menon's portrayal of Bibbo, the aging drag queen, with elaborate gestures and costumes was so convincing, that he received another offer to play a drag queen which he refused.

The film is known in English as The Pink Mirror. It has been refused a public performance certificate in India, but was screened in the UK at the National Film Theatre, and at the prestigious Commonwealth Film Festival, Manchester in May 2004. It is a semi-documentary, 50 minutes.
