Geierwally (1988, Germany)

Ralph von Morgenstern as Tante Luckard
In 1875 Wilhelmine von Hillern wrote a classic novel, "Die Geierwally" about the people in a remote Tyrolean village. The heroine is Wally, a strong minded young woman who is in love with a man who does not return her affection. Her domineering father disapproved of her independent spirit, and she became something of an outcast. She was skilled at dealing with eagles, that were considered a serious threat to the village's livestock, and she devoted herself to that task. (Geier is the dialect word for any large bird of prey).

The powerful story has been filmed several times, but the theme is now rather outdated and the older films are period pieces, although a romantic remake has been made in 2005. In 1988 Walter Bockmayer made this campy send-up version, with most of the original characters and some reference to the plot, but all of it strictly for laughs.

Ralph Morgenstern plays a major character, Aunt Luckard, who seems to have more fun than anyone else in the film.

Fortune telling
The future does not look good; we need to read the tarot cards.

The postman arrives in drag
Here the postman, Christel von der Post, (played by the writer/director, Bockmayer) is delivering a package.

An argument in the village
There's a lot of drag in other scenes too.
