Freedom Radio (1941, UK)

Fenner in drag
A most excellent film about the resistance within Nazi Germany in the early years of World War 2. There are no stiff upper lips, and only a few sneering jackbooted SS men. Most of the characters are ordinary people with no self-image as heroes. And the makers made no attempt to put on phoney German accents. In 1941 this must have been a very brave film to make (as well as a difficult one, given the privations of war in the UK at the time). The film is highly recommended.

Fenner (Reginald Beckwith), one of the opponents of the system, is working in variety entertainment, and has just come off stage doing a drag act. He is only seen very briefly in drag, and very indistinctly.
