Fariba Tabrizi is an educated Iranian woman, but she is persecuted because of her lesbian relationship. She flees to Germany expecting to get asylum there, but this is refused and she has to return to Iran. When a friend called Siamak commits suicide, Fariba assumes his identity and his political refugee status, and she is sent to a refugee camp in a German village.
She gets illegal work in harvesting vegetables on farms, and posing as a man, she finds relationships with the other workers awkward, especially when showering after work. However, when a co-worker called Anne makes advances to her for a dare (of course believing Fariba to be a man) they find one another surprisingly compatible and they fall in love for each other. However Fariba's status as an illegal is bound to catch up with her, and in this bleak film there is no happy ending.
The English title is Unveiled.
