A rare comedy from Ingmar Bergman and his first film in colour. It's all pretty surreal with fantastical backgrounds set in a chateau in Sweden; the fashions seem to vary between the 1960's and the twenties.
A famous cellist is sojourning at the chateau -- we never see him; even when he is performing there is a large microphone obscuring his face. Cornelius (played by Jarl Kulle) needs to talk to him about a composition he has written. The cellist is a notorious womaniser, so what better than to go dressed as a woman. A friend takes photographs to allure the musician.
Before the meeting takes place the musician's wife finds Cornelius, and assumes he is just another woman chasing her husband.
The title translates to "Too much talk about all these women" but the alternative titles of the film were All These Women and Now About These Women.
The Swedish actress Bibi Andersson has a leading role in the film; don't confuse her with Bibí Andersen, who appears in several films by the Spanish producer Pedro Almodóvar.
