Finding Neverland (2004)

Lady Ursula at centre stage
A lavish film following the story of James M. Barrie, who wrote the stage play Peter Pan. Barrie is portrayed as being befriended by a widow, who was bringing up four sons; their situation inspired the creation of Peter Pan.

The human interest is well developed, although British viewers will be reminded too often of Mary Poppins in the Hollywood view of Edwardian London; some of the outdoor shots look just too artificial also.

In one scene, the children put on a brief playlet for their Mother and Barrie; it's rather along the lines of Pyramus and Thisbe in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

One of the boys plays the role of Lady Ursula briefly.

Catrin Rhys as Peter Pan
When Peter Pan is finally staged, Michael Darling's leading role is played by a woman, as was the custom at this time. Here it is done by Catrin Rhys, not looking very boyish.
