A Bavarian farmer is in difficulties because of his debts. Arranging a marriage between his daughter and the wealthy Toni will solve all his problems. But the headstrong lass has other ideas.
Part of the subterfuge involves persuading a village "character" to pretend to be a woman, in order to deflect someone's amorous intentions. The whole thing is a Bavarian "Heimat" film, so the characterisations and the humour are extremely rustic.
Here in the picture, is the old routine of accidentally going to the wrong lavatory ... the earliest occurrence of this in film that I am aware of.
The title means The Wrong Bride.
