A tender film following the experiences of Eric Hunter (Chris Stafford) as he leaves school in America, and starts out a life of what ought to be humdrum conventionality. But Eric is gay, and hasn't realised it yet. For him the crisis comes at a dance when he runs out and goes instead to a gay club, run by a motherly lesbian woman who looks after him. The film is well done and skilfully portrays the dilemmas faced by Eric. My only quibble is that it is a bit surprising that, in 1998, Eric hadn't already encountered information about what it is to be gay.
When he first goes to the gay club, he is introduced to a group of friends, all of whom refer to him and to one another as "her". One of them is a transvestite, introduced to him as "Miss Ruby Rogers".
As he visits the club repeatedly, we see various drag acts on stage.
