European Vacation (1985)

Griswold and the basque Another in the National Lampoon series. Chevy Chase plays Clark Griswold, an inept and accident-prone father who takes his family on a holiday in Europe. The humour is pretty basic and predictable, but it doesn't do anyone any harm. (I suppose an exception to this is that it exaggerates and caricatures Americans' perception of European ways of life.)

Griswold's wife (Dana Hill) has bought a basque while shopping; she shows him, and says, "I got it for you ... ". He holds it against himself and replies, "Well honey, I really wouldn't want the kids to see me wearing something like this".

The film is also released as National Lampoon's European Vacation.
