Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993)

A curious film about a girl who has very large thumbs; this encourages her to hitchhike, which she does more or less aimlessly.

Her first destination is New York City, where she is taken in by the countess, played as a butch lesbian, and played by John Hurt, a "male Russian countess".

There are a lot of lesbian overtones in the places where she ends up.
