My favourite film with a transsexual main character; a gripping drama with believable characters.
Kim Foyle is a transsexual living fully in role, when she meets an old school friend. Totally incompatible personalities, they nonetheless create a relationship of sorts, for old times' sake.
I have a synopsis here:
The film was also released as Crossing the Border.
Kim's actor, Stephen Mackintosh, is not known to have other TG connections, and played the part to perfection, I thought. Kim is not a perfectly shaped woman, and not all the body language is right, even after four years. Just like real life. Mackintosh has a long string of roles to his credit, as well as having a wife and two children. He played the role of the RAF officer in Land Girls.
According to the New York Times, the post-op transsexual Adele Anderson screen tested for the lead role:
HF 1999
