Defending Your Life (1991)

A clever and interesting film based on what happens after you die: you go to Judgment City for a few days, while your courage in the last life is evaluated; your future life depends on the outcome of a sort of trial first.

Judgment City is a pleasant enough place with plenty of entertainment; the hero and heroine go to view their own previous lives, and it emerges that people were not necessarily the same sex in their former lives.

Recommended as providing a different slant on the afterlife; but the transgender element is only a reference back to the past.
