Chanthupottu is the latest from Dilip-Lal Jose team. The film deals with the central character Radhakrishna, an only son, who is brought up as a girl by his parents. He is known as Radha. He dresses like a girl, wears makeup, thinks and behaves like a girl. He is comfortable with his identity till he came across Mallu. This young girl confesses that she is in love with him. Mallu, a friend for so long, now becomes his fiancée. Now he starts feeling uncomfortable with his identity. He wanted to be Radhakrishnan. His struggle to get back his real identity forms the climax. Dilip plays Radhakrishnan and Gopika is Mallu.
Dilip felt that he was taking a big risk playing a role of a man with dual identities. Lal Jose directs the film for Lal creations. Music is by Vidyasagar and lyrics by Sarath Vaylar Verma. Cinematography is by Azhagappan and the film's story and screenplay is by Benny. Bhavana, Rajan P Dev and Lal form the rest of the cast. The film's songs were shot in Pondichery at Pithamaghan fort, which is now in ruins after the Tsunami disaster.
