Catherine's Grove (1997)

In the gay club
A lavishly produced, but rather disjointed film; there are two police officers who work together; Jack Doyle and his dubious colleague Nick Pirelli, who works as a private detective as a second job. They have to solve a case of serial murder of transvestites, but privately also Nick has to find a missing girl.

To make sure we know what is coming, we get a scene early on in a gay club, where three women are talking. But only the centre one is a genetic woman; Carlina (Nikki Adams, left) is rebuked for butting into a conversation with Catherine, or is it really Thomas, right.

Another dead crossdresser
The body count of transvestites begins to pile up and the police chief wants some results, fast. Meanwhile we have seen that Thomas Mason is a transvestite with a preference for the clothes of his dead sister.

Thomas emulates his sister Catherine
In fact we now see that Thomas was abused by his uncle when he was a boy; young Thomas is played by Nick Corisossi. Worshipping his sister, he tries lipstick.

Thomas appears to Uncle Joe
In fact at the end of the film, we see that Thomas as an adult confronts Uncle Joe. But frustratingly the scene is not carried through to any conclusion, and as in the rest of the film we jump to another theme.

The film was also released as Crossover.
