A Bob Hope comedy; he is a numskill tailor's assistant, Pippo, in Venice at the time of Casanova. Near the end of the film, it is vital that he smuggles an embroidered petticoat in to the Doge's palace to preserve the honour of a lady. There is a grand ball in progress; he is in league with Francesca (Joan Fontaine) and together they overpower a visiting dignitary and his wife; unfortunately the lady was large and her husband small, so when Hope and Fontaine dress in their clothes, it is this way round.
It is played strictly for laughs, of course.
