Cabaret (1972)

The Kit Kat Club
Bob Fosse's musical features Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey working in the Kit-Kat club among the drag artists in pre-war Berlin. In this pre-war period, the Nazi party is becoming more and more menacing. Liza Minelli's character is gets into love triangle problems.

Personally I don't care for Minelli's interpretation here, but Joel Grey, as the Master of Ceremonies (and once as a drag performer) and the music and dance at the Club, makes the film entertaining for me, and in my view he makes the film what it is.

At the urinal
Several of the performers are transvestites, although it's not always easy to tell, except in the urinal (pic).

A scene where a Hitler Youth member incites respect for Hitler (by a patriotic song in the open air) was cut from the version shown in Germany as being too inflammatory.

The chorus is on stage
Don't look too hard for a storyline, just enjoy the performances.

Here the chorus is working well ...

Joel Grey is in the chorus too
... but on this occasion Joel Grey is a surprise chorus "girl".
