Bint al-basha al-mudir (1938, Egypt)

Hikmat has to go to be a tutor on a wealthy rural Egyptian estate, but at the last moment he is unable to go. His sister Asya substitutes for him in disguise as him.

Most of the plot revolves around untangling identities so that all the main characters will end in appropriate heterosexual marriages, although there is some lesbian involvement.

The film is also known, in English, as The Pasha Director's Daughter.
