Ralf König film with screenplay by Sönke Wortmann, this films cleverly explores the interaction between an unwitting straight couple and the gay world, with overtones of Charley's Aunt and La Cage aux Folles, but played in a very German way.
Axel (Til Schweiger) is thrown out by his girlfriend Doro (Katja Riemann), when she catches him at it with another girl. To find somewhere to sleep he phones a man, Walter, whom he met a few days before. Walter is gay and quite fancies Axel, so he agrees to let him stay but conceals his sexuality at first, hoping to seduce Axel subtly.
Unfortunately all this takes place as Walter and his friends were getting ready to go to a Drag Ball, and Walter was going as Waltraut. Although Walter reverts to male mode, the others need to be introduced when Axel gets into the car (pic).
Axel stays with Walter, but Doro tries to get him back, not realising at first that he is staying in a gay household. It's a quite cleverly done film, and I enjoyed it.
The film was also released as:
Maybe, Maybe Not (1994)
Most Desired Man (1994)
Turbulent Man, The (1994).
