The Belles of St Trinians (1953)

The school Headmistress A comedy film set in a chaotic British girls' boarding school. The school is seedy, broke and crooked, and the girls run riot and terrorise the staff and the surrounding countryside.


The school Headmistress Alastair Sim played a well studied role as the Headmistress, as well as her brother, appearing with her in a few carefully set up scenes.

Sim specialised in slightly creepy and squalid male parts, and he plays superbly the dual role in this film.
