On the night of June 27th 1969, there was a near riot at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, as police tried to raid the place as an act of oppression against the gay and lesbian and drag community. The Drag Queens fought back, and this is regarded as the turning point for acceptance of the lesbian gay and transgender communities' rights in the USA.
This film is a documentary about life before that, and it should be watched to understand just how difficult things were. Most of the film is personal recollections with some archive film; not all of the film is of the best quality, but it's compelling viewing.
