Before Night Falls (2000)

Produced by Julien Schnabels, this is a biopic of the tragic Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas, following his unhappy life, much of it spent as a political prisoner of the Castro regime.

Johnny Depp plays a transvestite in prison, complete with moustache. She helps Arenas smuggle his work out.
