Babes in Toyland (1934)

Barnaby discovers that he has just married Stanley Laurel and Hardy feature film, which brings in all the elements the makers could think of, relating to fairytales and nursery rhymes; it doesn't really work for a modern audience, and the film is only of sentimental interest.

Part of the plot is that Bo-Peep's Mother, who seems to be also the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, is about to be thrown out, due to the arrears of rent owed to the wicked Mr Barnaby. He has signified that he will cancel the debt if her pretty daughter Bo-Peep marries him.

The daughter eventually agrees, but it is Stanley, heavily veiled, who takes the part of the bride at the ceremony.

The film was also released as March of the Wooden Soldiers.
