Mick (David Price) has dysfunctional parents and no money. And people suspect he's gay, and in Worondilla, Australia, this is a problem.
Nonetheless, he urgently needs to raise some cash, so what more natural than to join a visiting all girl band, "Total Fire" that has just lost its lead singer. He does so dressed in his Mum's clothes. A problem arises when the band leader, Angela, starts to fancy Mick/Michelle.
Mick adopts a more raunchy image for the actual performances; this attracts unwelcome attention too.
The Australian film industry hasn't always been successful at turning out good material, and this is one of its less good efforts. The repossession men who went to seize an old upright piano took it away on a pickup truck. It falls off the back, and it lands upright and undamaged on a railway line at a level crossing, just as a train is approaching. Pretty improbable stuff.
