A film freely adapted from Goethe's Faust story. Frank Faust (Jan Josef Liefers), a taxi driver, has lost his girlfriend and is in despair. He drinks a bottle of vodka, and, driving on, his taxi runs out of fuel and stops across the railway line at a level crossing. In a very unconvincing, low-budget sequence, a train comes but only scrapes the corner of the car.
In an alcoholic haze, Faust still is unsure what's going on when Mephisto appears (Armin Rohde), and persuades him to agree to a deal whereby he gets the girl back, but sells his soul to Mephisto. But it turns out that Mephisto himself has amorous designs on Faust, and he turns himself into an attractive woman (played by Iris Berben), to seduce him.
Later Faust is on his own and Mephisto has transformed into Claudia Schiffer, at the very moment when Faust's girlfriend appears at the door and wants to come in. This hardly improves matters with the girlfriend.
But when Faust goes back to the bedroom, Mephisto has changed back to his rather unattractive male self.
The plot is an interesting idea, but it was much better done in Bedazzled.
